Sabanci University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to be employed in SU-KordSA Composite Technologies Center of Excellence, CTCE, which is an industrial-scale research and technology development facility helping all sectors in the field of composite materials and manufacturing technologies and provide an environment to support component design, manufacture, assembly and process prototyping. The CTC is capable of manufacturing in commercial level thermoset prepregs, provide facilities for graduate education, fundamental research, applied research, product development, incubation services and commercialization opportunities in composite technologies. The center has laboratory facilities divided into 8 distinct laboratories, including, Material Characterization, Wet Chemistry, Polymer Processing, Micro-Nano Manufacturing, Mechanical Characterization and non-Destructive Testing, Autoclave, Advanced Composite Laboratories.
Job Description
The hired post-doctoral researcher candidate will take role in industry oriented R&D projects conducted in CTCE under the supervision of a senior researcher or faculty member. The candidate is expected to have a broad knowledge on the synthesis and characterization of polymers.
Skills and Qualifications
A strong background and Ph.D. degree in chemistry, materials science or related disciplines with 0+ years postgraduate experience
Expertise on polymer synthesis and characterization with a good understanding of structure-property relationships in polymers and polymer nanocomposites for industrial applications
Expertise on the design and development of novel polymeric materials and polymer nanocomposites for functional coating, adhesive and thermoset resin applications
Expertise on structural, thermal, mechanical and thermo-mechanical characterization of polymers
Hands on laboratory skills to carry out chemical synthesis routinely
Ability to write new project proposals
Ability to write technical reports and manuscripts reporting findings and results
