Why Does This Unit Exist?
At Sabancı University, we believe that every student should be able to reach their full potential.
For our students with special needs, equal access is not an exception—it is a fundamental right
and one of our priorities.
By fully complying with the regulations of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and going
beyond minimum requirements, we have established a comprehensive support network that
covers physical accessibility, examination accommodations, counseling services, psychological
support, and more.
Who Can Apply?
Students experiencing any of the following conditions are encouraged to apply:
- Physical disabilities
- Visual impairments
- Hearing impairments
- Chronic health conditions
- Learning disabilities
- ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
- Surgery, injury, or temporary health conditions
- Other special needs that may affect academic life

Confidentiality and Your Rights
- The information you share with us is kept confidential.
- Your information will not be shared without your explicit consent.
- Only the accommodations necessary for academic arrangements are communicated to
faculty members. - Your health information and personal data are protected.
- You remain an active participant in all decisions regarding your support process.
Questions on Your Mind
Any Sabancı University student with a permanent or temporary disability, health condition, or
special need that affects their academic life may apply.
In most cases, a current medical report, specialist evaluation report, or other official
documentation is required. Additional documents or information may be requested when
necessary.
Every student's needs are unique. Appropriate accommodations are determined collaboratively
based on your documentation and individual consultations.
No. Your diagnosis and medical information are not shared. Faculty members are only informed
about the accommodations necessary to support your academic participation.
Yes. All information and documentation are handled in accordance with confidentiality
principles and data protection regulations.
Yes. Students whose academic life is affected by surgery, injury, or temporary health conditions
may also request support.
You may continue to receive support from our unit throughout your studies for as long as your
needs persist. Your support plan can be reviewed and updated when necessary.
